Light in the Darkness
We are entering a new year with some excitement and hesitation. What will the next year bring? The world seems full of chaos and many unknowns. Most of us just take one day at a time. We get up each day and face either the storms or the sunshine. I start my day with a prayer asking God to lead my steps. A daily Bible devotion helps me focus on the gospel truth. It helps me avoid the bombarding messages presented to us through all the media platforms. It is the best way for me to keep my sanity. I don’t know what you do to get by? Here I am on New Year’s Eve and writing my first blog to start a new year. Make an effort to get my creative thoughts flowing again. Write something even if it has very little meat in it. My goal is to bring a message which brings hope, joy, peace and love back into the lives of others. There is enough negativity in the world to drown a rat or sink us into the abyss of darkness. There is light to be found if we look for that light found in Jesus Christ. He is the Light of the World. The Bible, is the most read book in history. It is full of wisdom, direction which can bring all we really need to know.
We all have questions. The crucial element of wisdom is finding that truth for ourselves. In this New Year I will dig a little deeper into the Word of God and study more. I will get to know who truth is in a deeper way. Jesus is the truth I am talking about. How can I know God if I don’t read His written words? Why do I believe so much in Jesus? Not because a preacher told me to. Not because of fear. I believe because God has demonstrated his reality to me over a life time. From a childlike belief I talked to him in a snow cave I made out of a snow drift. He was there. When I became an adolescent and sat in a canoe in the quiet water of Cooks Bay. God was there in the reflection of my face, as I looked in the calm of the water. In the silence of my depression and sadness, he collected my tears. I talk to him when there is no one else. Over time, my relationship with Christ my Savior became solidified. A daily conversation with Him. That is faith. The Bible has proven itself over time and fulfilled prophecy. The Word speaks. Jesus is the Word. He is the Life, the truth, the light.
Though the darkness in the world is often in the clouds. His light will always over-shine the darkness. We must always look for the light in our own darkness. This New Year, it is my prayer that we will all see more light in our daily lives. Walk in that light rather than the darkness.
